Bright-Eyed And...

It's. A beautiful, sunny day here in the nation's capital. Everyone seems to have survived the night, notwithstanding the Celtics' loss, and the many trips to the gift shop between 8:30 and 9:00 to stock up on soda, Pringles, and microwave popcorn. (And, did somebody order a pizza?) As far as we can tell, most everyone got a few hours sleep.

Today will be a long adventure. Our bus will stop at the Folger Shakespeare Library, the National History Museum, Arlington Cemetery, the Iwo Jima Memorial, and a performance of Sheer Madness at the Kennedy Center. I'm sure everyone will be exhausted when we rerun home tonight after 10pm.

The Statue of Freedom

Inside the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol

A Case of Sam Adams

On our tour of the Capitol, we were disappointed to learn that the statue of Samuel Adams, one of the two statues representing Massachusetts, was sealed inside a box while roof repairs were being done. Maybe next time.

A Rite of Passage

Having been off the plane for only an hour, our first stop is a group picture in front of the U.S. Capitol building. This annual trip rite of passage is a great way to set the stage for the next few day, and it will serve as a lasting memory for years to come.

So far, the trip has been going smoothly. The weather, if not sunny, is cooperating, and while it is pretty muggy, it could certainly be worse. After the photo, we head to lunch and then a tour of the Capitol. Last year we saw a few famous faces. I wonder who we'll run into this year.

Cormier group has arrived!

Now, where's our luggage?...

And We're Off!

It's 6:35 - a little bit of drizzle, but everyone's here and excited to get to the airport.
